THE LURE OF GOLD

When a salmon-fisherman in Alaska sees something glittering in the water he does not realize that he is about to unleash an illness without  a cure: the Gold Fever! Lawyer Alam Harnisch can't resist the call of the Klondike Gold rush and leaves with many others the big city in hope for richness and luxury. Together with three copmanions he heads into an edventure of success and misfortunes that puts his life in danger as he struggles against man and nature.

Jack London's novel took readers on an epic journey to the wilds of nowhere but also to the depths of the human soul. In the film adaption the audience experiences the heady rush of hope and illusion mixed with the lust for adventure and risk-taking of the gold rush.

Rüdiger Bahr, a great German actor of the 1970s, plays Harnisch as his character swings from hope to despair. His character gains incredible wealth but also the decadence, ignorange and megalomania hat comes with it. He falls into darkness, into emotional and material poverty, powerlessness and humbleness.

The hugely successful mixture of adventure and drama of THE LURE OF GOLD guarantee a perfect family entertainment.
