With explosive non-stop action of an intensity seldom equalled, let alone beaten, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER rocks, rolls and rules the screen, big and small!

The film that established the team of Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin as Hollywood A-listers, it's a reminder, if one were needed, that there was a time when Jean-Claude Van Damme, "The Muscles from Brussels", was right up there with Schwarzenegger and Stallone when it comes to the bone-crunch. The brawny Belgian plays Luc Devreux, an American soldier killed in Vietnam who has been reanimated in a super secret government project to create the ultimate super soldiers, the Universal Soldiers or UniSols. The question, of course, is not whether it's all going to go horribly, tragically wrong, but how horribly, tragically wrong? In the case of UNIVERSAL SOLDIER the answers are "very" and "gloriously"!

Devreux starts having flashbacks to his previous life, makes a break for it and hooks up with a TV reporter, Veronica. Meanwhile his fellow UniSol, Andrew Scott, is none other than the psycho who was happily slaughtering an entire village when he and Devreux killed each other! And now he's after them. A giant among action films, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER is Van Damme at his damned best with fight scenes that define the genre. Dolph Lundgren, who, as Scott, comes on like the unstoppable evil lovechild of Darth Vader and the Terminator, more than matches him.

Roland Emmerich (THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, INDEPENDENCE DAY, STARGATE) knows how to deliver big value entertainment. In UNIVERSAL SOLDIER he unleashes his two stars and let's them go for it with all they've got. Gunfights, explosions and martial arts action of the finest kind; as genre fans already know, it doesn't get any better than this!
