CLOUD, THE

Gregor Schnitzler's adaptation of Gudrun Pausewang's gripping novel about a teenage love confronted with a nuclear catastrophe.

Hannah and Elmar are two typical teenager in the small town of Schlitz until an accident in the nuclear power plant nearby. A huge cloud of radioactivity is released and panic grips the town. Thousands die immediately, thousands more are nuclear contaminated. Both Hannah and Elmar need to fight for their lives and their love in the middle of the catastrophe.

After his romantic comedy "Soloalbum" Gregor Schnitzler proves himself yet again as one of Germany's best directors, handling themes and characters with high intensity. THE CLOUD is gripping entertainment, yet motivating and uplifting.
